ビンテージ南部鉄器のブックエンドです。
重量感、表面の質感とも申し分なく、特筆すべきは独特なデザイン。ぴったり寄り添う水着の男女の顔が、女性物と思われる一つの麦わら帽子によって隠されています。
1970年代に多数作成されたモダンな鉄器類の中にあっても一際存在感を放つデザインで、恐らくは馬場忠寛氏などのクラフト作家の手によるものではないかと思われますが、詳細は判りませんでした。
作者はなぜ鉄という素材、ブックスタンドという機能にこのモチーフを選ばれたのか。じっくり見ていると大変興味深い品です。
